Bike slay
A 54-year-old man was arrested for brutally beating a man to death on Shore Parkway on Aug. 26 — with a bicycle, said police.
A witness told police that he was near West Street at 6:28 pm when he saw the suspect punching and kicking the victim, throwing him to the ground, and then bashing him in the head with a metal bicycle. The medical examiner who performed an autopsy on the victim determined that he died after sustaining fractures to his skull, bleeding in his brain, and neck compression.
Luna lunacy
Police arrested a 45-year-old Luna park employee who they say beat up a man outside the Coney Island amusement park on Bowery Street on Aug. 25.
The victim told police that he was near W. 12th Street at 11:25 pm when the park employee began beating him with a flashlight.
Stinky shoplifter
A 55-year-old man was arrested for trying to steal several items — including deodorant — from a Cropsey Avenue store on Aug. 25.
An employee told police that he was inside the store between Bay 52nd and Bay 53rd streets at 8:10 pm when he noticed the suspect snag various items, including Motrin and the deodorant, and then attempt to leave without paying. When the employee attempted to stop the suspect, he allegedly punched the guy in the gut before fleeing.
Bad apple
A 16-year-old boy was arrested for beating and robbing a man of his bag on W. 24th Street on Aug. 23.
The victim told police that he was between Surf and Mermaid avenues at 2 pm when the suspect punched him in the head and then ran off with his satchel.
