You might want to leave the family at home the next time you catch a flick in Sheepshead Bay.
The UA Sheepshead Bay Stadium 14 and IMAX on Shore Parkway has raised its ticket price to an astronomical $14, or $6.06 higher than 2012’s national average, making it one of Brooklyn’s most expensive theaters.
Other theaters across the borough come close to the Sheepshead Bay cinema’s price, but not quite.
UA Court Street 12 will set you back $13.50 for a flick. Williamsburg Cinema will eat $13 out of your wallet, the Pavilion Theater in Prospect Park charges $12, and the Cobble Hill Cinemas on Court Street demand $11 per showing.
It’s not all doom and financial gloom for Brooklyn movie lovers, however.
Alpine Cinemas in Bay Ridge only charges $9 and the Kent Theater on Coney Island Avenue takes the cake with its $8 tickets.
During the fourth quarter of 2012, the average ticket price at U.S. theater reached an all-time high of $8.05, although the average price for all of 2012 was $7.96.
