Cops busted a Bensonhurst man, who they claim was behind a string of late April burglaries in Bay Ridge, on May 3.
Joseph Catanzaro, 42, was nabbed at a gas station on Fourth Avenue between 68th and Senator streets. Police charged him with five counts of burglary and one count of possession of stolen property.
Authorities allege that on April 24, Catanzaro broke into five apartments in three different buildings on Ovington Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Avenue, and made off with cash, jewelry, cameras, and electronics. The NYPD said that it’s now investigating whether Catanzaro was behind a similar April 19 spree on 78th and 83rd streets.
Catanzaro’s court-appointed attorney, David Seman, did not respond to repeated calls for comment.
Catanzaro faces up to 42 years in prison.
“Hopefully he’ll stay in jail,” a source at Bay Ridge’s 68th Precinct said.
