Someone’s been watching a few too many reality-TV cop shows.

An unlicensed, teen-aged driver took the NYPD Highway Patrol on a high speed chase across the borough along the Belt Parkway April 30, before abandoning the car and fleeing into a Knapp Street nursing home with his passenger. The cops quickly swooped into the nursing home and slapped the cuffs on the would-be Dale Earnhardts.

The suspects were headed east bound on the Belt near Bay Parkway around noon when a highway patrol officer flashed his lights after clocking them allegedly driving well above the speed limit.

Instead of pulling over and taking a ticket, the 17-year-old driver decided to take his chances and cause a ruckus in process, said the police.

The highway patrol chased the suspects across the Belt through Bensonhurst, Gravesend, and into Sheepshead Bay, where they veered off the highway at the Knapp Street exit. The suspects quickly abandoned their white Dodge Avenger to seek refuge in the nearby Harbor View Nursing Home.

The cops soon found them hiding in the old home’s basement.

Neither the 17-year-old driver, nor his 21-year-old passenger, were licensed to drive the car — a rental — which was apparently procured by a third party, stated the police.

The vehicle wasn’t stolen, however the suspects were in possession of a small amount of marijuana, according to the police.
