Brooklyn GOP leader Russell Gallo wants Chick-fil-A to open a franchise in Southern Brooklyn, claiming that residents from Marine Park to Bay Ridge would welcome restaurant chain owner Dan Cathy’s chicken sandwiches — as well as his views on gay marriage.
Cathy sparked a firestorm of controversy last week when he said that his Atlanta-based company opposed same-sex nuptials.
The only Chick-fil-A in the five boroughs can be found on New York University’s campus, but Council Speaker Christine Quinn demanded that the college cut ties with the restaurant based on its alleged discriminatory views.
Yet Mayor Bloomberg defended Cathy, claiming that the company head was merely engaging in free speech.
