Brutal beat down

A 40-year-old man was arrested for brutally beating a woman inside a Brighton Eighth Street apartment building on Feb. 16, merely because she asked him to keep the noise down, police said.

The victim told police that she was trying to sleep in her apartment between Banner Avenue and Brighton Eighth Court at 5 am when she decided to go next door and ask her neighbors to lower their deafening music. Instead of obliging his neighbor, the suspect allegedly slugged her in the face and kicked her into the hallway, prompting the victim to call 911.

The suspect then forced his way into the victim’s apartment, pulled her into the hallway, and beat her again, officials said. Fortunately, the victim was able to free herself and hide in a roommate’s bedroom until police arrived.

Shove it

Police arrested a 23-year-old man who they say shoved a woman on Mermaid Avenue on Feb. 18.

The victim told police that she was between W. 23rd and W. 24th streets at 11:35 pm when the suspect threatened her and then gave her a mighty shove.

Surprise party

Two men, 26 and 17, were arrested for robbing a man inside a Brightwater Court apartment on Feb. 18.

The victim told police that he was lured to the apartment between Brighton Third and Brighton Fourth Streets at 12:40 am, on the pretense of planning a party. When he arrived, however, the younger suspect emerged from a hiding spot in a closet, and placed the victim in a choke hold, before slamming him to the ground and taking two cellphones.
