Police are on the hunt for a Kingsborough Community College student who slashed a fellow scholar’s neck on Coney Island Avenue in Brighton Beach Wednesday morning, according to a statement released by the college.
The victim told police that he was waiting for a Kingsborough-bound bus near Brighton Beach Avenue at 10:45 am, ready to head to class when he became engaged in a spirited debate with one of his collegiate colleagues, according to the college’s release.
The students continued their argument as they boarded the bus, but tensions came to head when one of the scholars produced a blade and slashed the victim’s throat.
First responders rushed the victim to Lutheran Hospital, where he was treated for “superficial wounds” and is expected to be released later today, according to Kingsborough spokeswoman Ruby Ryles.
“My understanding is that the student will probably be released later today,” she said.
Ryles said campus police were working with the NYPD to find the culprit
“We are awaiting a report on the medical status of the student taken to the hospital and a report from police on the status of the search for the suspect,” Kingsborough said in a statement.
