July 11 at Dodd Stadium

The Clones losing streak stretched to four games in a shutout loss to the Connecticut Tigers, with the Mini-Mets offense failing to capitalize on a strong performance by starter Julian Hilario.

Hilario struck out five batters — fanning the Tigers in order in the fifth frame — and gave up just one run on six hits and no walks in six innings of work. The Tigers lone run came in the third on an RBI line drive from Tigers center fielder Jake Stewart.

But the Cyclones’ bats were all but silent all night with just four hits — two of them off the bat of third baseman Alexander Sanchez. Sanchez is batting .297 in the last 10 games, with a .333 on base percentage.

Brooklyn’s Boys of Summer are now 14–9 for the season, still two games ahead of the second-place Hudson Valley Renegades in the McNamara Division of the New York–Penn League.

The Cyclones are home again at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449–8497, www.brooklyncyclones.com] on July 17 at 7 pm as they take on the Hudson Valley Renegades.
